Reiki Energy Healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki comes from two Japanese words – Rei (universal) and Ki (life force).  It is this unseen universal life force energy which flows through our bodies keeping us balanced.

Reiki is not a religion, as it holds no creed or doctrine.  One does not have to believe in Reiki for it to be of some support to them.  Reiki is a very powerful, yet gentle and nurturing healing modality.

What is Reiki’s Origin?

It is believed to have been used by the Tibetan monks long ago.  It was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in March 1922 while in an intensive meditation on Mt. Kurama.  He later taught it to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi in Japan and it was introduced to the United States in 1937 by Mrs. Hawayo Takata.

How does it work?

The client lies on a massage table or sits in a chair (fully clothed) while the practitioner gently lays their hands on the client over key positions (known as energy centers).  The session lasts for about 45 minutes to one hour.  The client is not “healed” by the practitioner but rather the client’s healing comes from the universal life force energy flowing through the hands of the practitioner.

What are the Benefits?

Reiki complements and increases the effect of medical treatments and assists healing in virtually every known illness and injury.

Reiki can help:

  • Reduce stress, tension & anxiety.
  • Relieve chronic pain.
  • Accelerate healing wounds.
  • Strengthen immune system.
  • Improve sleep.
  • Maintain/raise energy level.
  • Release emotions like grief & anger.

Reiki treatments promote health physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  Reiki supports the body’s ability to return to wholeness in whatever way possible for that person at that moment.

What can one expect during a Reiki session?

A Reiki treatment is a different experience for every individual.  Some clients may:

  • Experience a deep sense of relaxation.
  • Fall asleep.
  • Feel a sense of inner peace & clarity.
  • Have emotional release during the treatment or even several days later.

Who can benefit from a Reiki Treatment?

Reiki is available for everyone and because it employs only the use of gentle touch, it is especially a welcome technique for children and the elderly; it can also be used on animals.

Reiki sessions are available in person or long distance.
